Abbrevation for Favorite Icon.

A Favicon is an image that you be used to brand a web site and make it stand out.

Currently only Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 (and above) implements this feature (which means about 25% of web surfers can see favicons).

Internet Explorer 5 (and above) displays the Favicon in the web browser's address bar, favorites folder, as well as in other places that icons can be used, such as in the Windows Task bar or Start menu.

Implementing this feature on a web site, simply requires placing an appropriately formatted file, named favicon.ico, in the appropriate folder.
